Lying low

With this weekend having a nice ice glazing, we didn't do too much exciting this weekend.

The girls came home early on Friday and we made some brownies.  They made houses for their dolls out of cardboard.



Saturday we ventured out in the morning for skate lessons but were back home in the afternoon.  Madeleine and I worked on her clean-o-matic invention.  It works OK, but when the sponges get super wet it's too heavy to spin.  We may have to do some refinements.



More baking as it was Uncle Mark's birthday.  Or licking the spoons as the case may be.  Coldest day of the year, and Lily decides to bake in a bikini.



Of course today we went to the pool, indoors of course.

Fitness Night

Tonight we went to health and fitness night sponsored by the PTA at our school.  Last year we went, and the kids had a great time with all the different vendors and I won a ton of stuff at the raffle.

This year, however, there's a threat of a winter storm coming down, so a lot of vendors couldn't make it out, and I didn't see much I wanted in the raffle.

But the girls got to participate in the Tae Kwon Do lesson.  Madeleine won a t-shirt for having the best dance, and they both got to break boards.  So success!

This weekend was in the 70's here, so we spend a good chuck of time Saturday AND Sunday at some awesome parks.  The girls ran into other kids they knew at BOTH places too.

Today's photo is courtesy of the AHL hockey team - the Charlotte Checkers.  An affiliate of the NHL Carolina Hurricanes, they scheduled a 1:30 pm game today in Raleigh since the NHL has been locked out.  We took advantage of the early game time and cheaper tickets to take the girls.

They had a great time and were happy to report that they could figure out what was going on without us telling them.

They highlight was making it to the Jumbotron twice, of course.

Christmas is over

The last thing to bite the dust?  The tree.  It's been out on the deck since last week.  Taking it out that way's shorter than dragging it through the house and leaving needles.  The three story fall was kind of disappointing as it didn't smash like the gingerbread houses did.

 

Game time!

I played in my first game since sometime in October.  With everyone being sick, it's been a challenge.  As usual, my sinuses cleared up as soon as I was on the ice, but I always pay for it the next morning.

Jumping on the bandwagon

I bought a new camera.  Yay!  But I don't know how to use it.  So I thought I'd try the Project 365 everyone is doing where you take a picture a day.  If I'm not trying something new with the camera, I'll try something new with Lightroom.

This is an average night in our house where there's no homework.  The girls did a music show.

I couldn't figure out how to switch to RAW on the camera yet, so the white balance was off.  I'll fix that with a Lightroom preset.  Now Lily looks like a real rock star.
